You have arrived at the home of the Beavers

This is the homepage for the OSU Beavers Rugby Football Club and we're gearing up for a brand new season. With plenty of talent returning this season to our women's and men's squads, after both teams qualified for Sweet 16 tournament berths last year, we're looking forward to promising years for both teams. Last year's results on the national scene were promising and the teams are hoping for another shot this year. The men's team travelled to Ohio where they dropped their first game in a tight match with Navy. The second day they came out flat and riddled with injuries and dropped their second game to Ohio State. The ladies headed to Orlando, Florida, where they met up with Central Michigan University and prevailed 0-37. In an extremely well contested match the second day, the OSU women's team lost to Princeton 12-18 to finish their season tied for 5th in the nation.

For more specifics, check out the buttons below for individual teams.

Last year's season was a great one as the men finished first in the league and the women's team completed a sweep of the Pacific Northwest on their way to accumulating a 12 -1 overall record. The women's squad attended the Pacific Coast Championships and won the tournament to enter the Sweet 16 tournaments with the Pacific Coast's second seed. The women began Sweet 16 play with a convincing win over Central Michigan University to the tune of 0-37. Their next match against Princeton was an extremely tight battle which eventually saw the Beavers fall in a 12-18 effort. The OSU men kicked off play against the Navy Midshipmen and lost in a disappointing showed that they were unwilling to undergo a rebuilding year after graduating 14 seniors and placing 5th in the nation during the 98-99 season. With a 6-0 start and final record of 8-3-1, the men accomplished more than many expected and recruited a good crop of young talent. This season returns experienced women's and men's teams that are hoping to go far into the playoffs.

Congratulations go out to Jeanette Laramee for being named a 1999-2000 Honorable Mention Collegiate All-American! Netto stepped in and took over the reins at fly-half and did a wonderful job directing the backs all season. We'll miss her this year as she is going on exchange to England. Mike Peters represented the men in rep side play as he was named to the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Grizzlies squad. Check out the respective men's or women's sites for more info on the teams and also some good stuff on past seasons. We have a tentative schedule for the men's team this upcoming year, schedules for the past season, game recaps for our matches, and bits of personal information on the players. There are new pictures for both the guys and the ladies and the rosters are all updated to reflect graduations and other untimely events that take players away from us. I'll update the site again when school starts up and there are new schedules for the upcoming season and any other news.

Oregon State is located in Corvallis, Oregon, and competes in the Pacific Northwest Rugby Football Union. Both of our teams are highly competitive. The men's team finished off the 1997-98 season in second place in the PNRFU and the previous season ended with OSU ranked 10th in the nation. The women's team qualified for the playoffs and is ranked among the top teams in the nation. Both teams are always recruiting (no rugby experience necessary!) and we welcome interested people to contact one of the team representatives.
